Authors are advised to confer with the Editorial Board member of their geographic area before submitting a paper. Manuscripts should be submitted to the Editorial Secretariat in either English or Russian as Word for Windows files, font 12, Times New Roman, 2,5 cm margines, single line spacing. They can be sent as e-mail attachements to the address firstname.lastname@example.org, or on a computer discette to the Editorial secretariat. On a separate peace of paper, please write one or two sentences, and 5 key-words that characterise the content of the article. When submitting graphics, please also include the numbers that the graphics are based on. In addition, two copies of the manuscript (typed double spaced on A4 paper) with two sets of original illustrations, and a covering letter signed by the corresponding author should be submitted to the Editorial secretariat. The cover letter should include one or two sentences, and 5 key-words that characterise the content of the article, name and address of the corresponding author, as well as telephone number, fax number, and if available e-mail address. If possible, authors are urged to submit a translation of the manuscript to the other publishing language.
Outbreak news, presentations, case reports and other short communications should be between 400 and 1000 words in length (including references), and may be unstructured without headings. Short original papers are likely to be 1500 to 2000 words in length (including references), and should be divided into Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion. Exceptions will be made at the discretion of the Editor. Review articles are published following agreements with the Editor, length being decided after discussion.
Contributions should conform to the "Vancouver style" as set out in the "Uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals" (Ann Intern Med 1997; 126: 36-47). Abbreviations should be avoided as much as possible and defined when first used. Clarity is essential, as all reports will have to be translated into either Russian or English, and often read by people for whom neither of these languages is their first. Tables should be easy to understand. The need for footnotes should be avoided. Figures should be submitted as glossy prints or laser prints, and used only if a visual image will enhance or complement the text. Information from tables or figures should not be repeated in the text. The data that are used for making figures and tables should be enclosed. The Editor of EpiNorth reserves the right to edit the manuscript for purposes of clarity and conformation with the style of the bulletin.
References should give the names and initials of the first three authors before "et al", the title of the article, journal name, year of publication, volume number, and the first and last page numbers of articles. References must be numbered in the same order that they appear in the text. The titles of journals in the reference list should be abbreviated according to Index Medicus, or fully spelled out if not included in the Index Medicus.
After agreement with the Editor, supplements on specific topics may be published.
EpiNorth considers manuscripts that have not been previously published and are not being simultaneously considered for publication elsewhere. After special agreement, articles that have been published in journals, newsletters or other periodicals of the participating institutes may be re-published in EpiNorth. If a contribution is accepted for publishing in EpiNorth, it may later be freely republished if the original publishing in EpiNorth is fully acknowledged and the Editor is notified. Use of direct quotations, tables, or illustrations from copyrighted material in submissions to EpiNorth must be accompanied by written permission for their use from the copyright owner and original author, along with complete information as to source.
