Situation with tick-borne encephalitis in Republic of Komi

According the Rospotrebdnadzor in the Republic of Komi, between 3 and 9 May 2012 there were 57 persons (of these 10 children) seeking medical assistance due to tick bites.

Since the begigning of the monitoring this year there were 118 people (of these 25 children) bitten by ticks. Victims of tick bites recieved specific prophylaxis. In 2012 4,102 people (of these 213 children) recieved vaccine against tick borne encephalitis.

Thirty two ticks were laboratory tested, an antigen against TBE virus was detected in one of tested ticks.
