Increase of chickenpox in Mogilev region, Belarus

The regional centre for hygiene, epidemiology and public health in Mogilev, Belarus, reported an increase in chickenpox cases in the region.
Between January and June 2012 5348 cases were reported (4853 cases in the same period in 2011). Children under 18 are affected the most (92-95% of all cases) in particular those 3-6 years old (77-82%). Increase of chickenpox is observed every 6-7 years in the region with peak of over 7000 cases.
