Outbreak of unknown virus among marines in Estonia

In the end of last week, a total of 52 marines experienced vomiting, nausea and in rare cases fever, reported 23rd of August Estonian newspaper Eesti Päevaleht.

Leptospirosis in Ukraine

As of 16 of August, 6 cases of leptospirosis reported in Kiev, according to Information Agency RIA-Novosti Ukraine.

Cases of unknown etiology in Nizhyn, Ukraine

As of 17 August, a total of 9 children underwent medical treatment at the Municipal Hospital in Nizhyn, according to the administration of Chernigov Oblast in Ukraine. Preliminary diagnosis was acute respiratory infection with underlying severe chronic nervous system impairment. All patients were in stable condition.

Increased number of hepatitis A cases in Lviv Oblast, Ukraine

In the period of 6-31 July 2010, a total of 10 people were hospitalized with suspected hepatitis A in a village in Lviv oblast, according to the Sanitary-Epidemiological Station in Lviv oblast.

Increase in number of cases of tick-borne diseases in Lithuania this year

A record high number of people infected with tick-borne diseases are reported in Lithuania as the Lithuanian Centre for Communicable Diseases and AIDS informed on 4th August this year.

Outbreak of aseptic meningitis in Latvia

As of 10 of August 13 PM, a total of 120 cases of aseptic meningitis were reported in Latgale region of Latvia (areas which borders with Lithuania, Belarus and Russian Federation), according to the Infectology Centre of Latvia.

Cases of enterovirus meningitis in Estonia and Finland this summer

There have been reported cases of enterovirus meningitis in Estonia, Finland and Latvia this summer. These cases were not connected, according to the Health Board of Estonia.

World Health Organization declared pandemic flu A(H1N1) over
