General vaccination of girls against Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) has been started in Island

The Island’s
Directorate of Health has started distribution of the vaccine against HPV on the 15th of September 2011, targeting 12-13 year old girls (7 and 8 schoolyear). Vaccine will be delivered through the primary health care.
Girls will recieve 3 doses of Cervarix vaccine (manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline) within the 6-12 months period. Parents and guardians have been informed about vaccination by letter.
